W. L. GORE &
ASSOCIATES, INC. PRIMEA® Power Assemblies Drive Fuel Cell Vehicles Again (Elkton, MD)
W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. is proud to announce that for the
second year in a row it is an Honorary Pit Crew sponsor of the New Jersey
Venturer and Genesis Projects. Gore
was pleased to work with H Power Corporation to integrate the PRIMEA® power
assemblies into both fuel cell power plants for the Venturer and Genesis
vehicles that will run in this
year’s Tour de Sol race. These vehicles represent a significant step forward towards
the commercialization of fuel cells as a viable option for alternative powered
vehicles.
Gore’s involvement with fuel cell technology stretches back to 1996,
when the company launched the PRIMEA® membrane electrode power assembly 5000
Series. Continuing advances led to
the development of the Series 5510 membrane electrode power assemblies,
introduced in 1997, which offer the highest power density power assembly
available in the marketplace. Both
Series 5000 and 5510 power assemblies were designed for hydrogen/air
applications. Gore subsequently
introduced the PRIMEA® 5561 membrane electrode power assemblies for operation
with reformate fuel streams, as well. To
maximize product performance and durability, all PRIMEA® membrane electrode
power assemblies are provided with complementary components such as integral
gasketing and carbelä gas diffusion media. Gore’s diverse product offerings include hundreds of electronic, industrial, medical, and fabric products found in markets worldwide. Posting annual sales exceeding $1.23 billion, Gore operates more than 45 facilities and employs over 6,200 associates around the world, with headquarters in Newark, Delaware.
